In pursuit of the most likely candidate to win Puntland leadership, I tried to rank the best five of all candidates. The rankings are based on their past political experience, status of their campaign and how powerful they are
1. Prof. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas
Mr Gaas is the incumbent president of Puntland state of Somalia and former prime minister of Somalia . He also became the minister of planning and international cooperation. Since he is the current president he has influence over the selection of MPs. He already forced some traditional leaders to give his cronies the seats of particular clans in the parliament. This makes Gaas the most likely person to become the president of Puntland in next five years.
2. Eng. Mohamud Kh. Jabiye
Eng. Jabiye is a business tycoon who owns a large home care business in the USA. He is also the owner of the drinking juice company called Victoria Juice in Kenya. Jabiye’s campaign already donated a lot of money to Puntland productive sectors. This will mark him as the largest donor candidate as the people call him. Using his money philosophy Jabiye can manage to become the next five year Puntland president.
3. Farh Ali Jama (Shire)
Farah is a Somali economist and politician who served as the minister of finance during Faroole administration. Farah is praised to control financial problems in the region at that time. He fought corruption, inflation and fraudulent money by officials. During his tenure Farah boosts that he regularly paid the salary of the civil servants and military. Farah is influential Politian and is he is the most likely candidate to win in the election after Jabiye and president Gaas.
4. Saed Abdullahi Dani,
Dani is a Somali politician. He was the Minister of Planning of Somalia. He also ran in the 2017 race for presidency. Dani was a close ally to former Somalia president and his veiled party, Damuljadiid. Rumours said that mr Dani’s campaign is financed by the former Somali government politicians and allies.
5. Abdi Said Farah Juxa
Abdi Farah Said (Juxa) is the former Minister of Education of Puntland. he was appointed as the Minister of Interior and Federal affairs in Nabad iyo Nolol Government. Juha’s campaign does not active in the past weeks and
seems scared of getting
into the campaign trouble.
Honourable mentions
Ali Haji warsame
Warsame is a
Somali entrepreneur, accountant, and politician. He served as
the first Director of Management at the Port of Bosaso, and later as the Chief Executive Officer of Golis Telecom Somalia. In 2014, he was
appointed the Minister of Education of Puntland. Ali’s campaign
is not welcomed as the above mentioned candidates but he is not piece of cake
candidate.
